The Dental Hygienists perspective on Oral Cancer
Oral Cancer is estimated to have a global incidence of 4 cases per 100 000 people. Traditional causes such as alcohol and tobacco combined with a growing spread of human papillomavirus infections makes the risk population not only growing but also becomes more divers and more heterogenous. Early screening is now, more than ever of great importance. As leading oral health professionals in the area of oral health promotion and prevention, the dental hygienist has an important role to play in every phase of the care continuum for patients with cancers of the lips, oral cavity and head and neck region.
This symposium aims to provide dental hygienist, dental hygiene students and other oral health professionals with an overview of the importance of oral hygiene during the prevention and care continuum regarding oral cancer.
Participation is free, but if you are able to, we kindly ask to donate the amount that you would spend on a symposium like this, to "Kom Op Tegen Kanker" (click here to go to the official donating page) or another organization in your country of residence that supports patients diagnosed with cancer and supports scientific research within the domain of cancer
